History of the Hess family

With the Hess cheese dairy, we are with the 3rd generation.

Mr Otto Hess, Grandfather, manufactured the emmental Suisse. Then, his Rene son, arrived in the Burgundian Area, in 1954, and perpetuated the tradition. Then, little by little, the market evolution leads it to extend its range and to turn to the sale, on the market of Beaune (21 – Côte d’Or), in Burgundy.

In 1978, the grandson, Alain, take again the torch. It first of all starts to make rounds in the neighbouring communes, with a “very small truck”!

March 1st, 1988, it opens a store of pedestrian precinct in Beaune, which enables him to sell the products that it refines delicately.

However, it does not stop there. Eager to continue even further its search near “curious” customers more and more, he invents a new cheese “le Délice de Pommard®”: tasty marriage of an spineless individual triples cream and of mustard sound.

This product subjugated the amateurs and its diffusion, now, does not stop in extreme cases of France, but with the countries such as Belgium, Germany, England,…

Thanks to the rigor and with the will of Alain Hess, the “Délice de Pommard®” is promised with a bright future and we invite all the amateurs to discover this artisanal product of high-quality.

Since November 3rd, 1997, Alain Hess was promoted Cheese-making Maître.
